Who is Friendly Computer Center?

We’re a small firm that caters to small businesses, nonprofit organizations and home computer users. We’re small enough to have a personal relationship with all our clients and yet provide all the services they may require.

Since 1994 we’ve developed a reputation for quality work, honesty, and a caring concern for our clients.  We’ve done so by providing for our client's needs.

Why use Friendly Computer Center?

Unlike the "Big Boys" in the computer business who are impersonal and not service oriented we provide a personal touch as we deal with you face to face. And we have to care about our service because our client base has been and continues to be built one client at a time by word-of-mouth.

Calling for service from the "Big Boys" almost always means waiting on hold until your next birthday.  When you do get through you can end up losing all your data because it’s faster for them to have you reformat your hard drive and restore your system than it is to find your problem.

Calling us is different… not only do you get to talk with a live person when you call, but with us your data is almost as important to us as it is to you. We live by our motto, "First, do no harm" (to the client's data.)

We answer dozens of calls each week from people that haven’t even purchased a computer from us and probably never will. Why, because we are our name, friendly. A good neighbor, if you will, and a relationship with a good neighbor is always preferable to a long distance relationship.

Why are custom-built computers better than name-brand computers?

Well, here are a couple of reasons. First the name-brand systems…

  1. Name-brand computers use proprietary designs. This normally means proprietary cases that have motherboards with built-in video, sound and modems. Upgrading these systems is almost never cost-effective and in the case of the very low cost systems, it just can’t be done at all. This comes as a real surprise to first time buyers when they try to update to the latest technology.
  2. Out of date technology. In order to produce thousands of the next model, the "Big Boys" have to design their systems months ahead of the introduction date. This leaves the marketing department to dress up the old technology as the latest cool feature that you need to buy.

Now the argument for custom-built computers…

  1. Our custom-built computers are built with industry-standard parts. Not only does this provide the buyer with the latest technology but it also allows us to build a system that meets their specific needs. This saves them money because they buy only what is needed at the time. Then, if their needs change over time, the computer can be upgraded to meet those needs.
  2. Computers built with industry-standard parts are easily repaired anywhere. Almost any computer repair shop can repair systems built with industry-standard components! And upgrading means updating parts, not the system.
  3. Local Service.  The buyer can talk to someone face-to-face if the need arises.  Also, knowing that a local telephone call will provide help even for the little questions, brings peace of mind even to the least proficient user.
